Senior Portrait FAQ

Why do schools have a contract photographer? When a school contracts one photographer, it simplifies getting photos of dances, sports groups, music ensembles, graduation, etc. for the school. However, is not usually the best choice for seniors and their families who want high quality, custom senior portraits.

Can I use pictures taken at New Visions Photography in my yearbook? It depends on the school that you go to.  Some schools have open yearbook policies and allow students to go to the photographer of their choice. If your school has a contract photographer for senior photos, you are required to use their photographer for your yearbook photo. You don't have to purchase photos from that photographer, however.

How far in advance do I have to book my session? It depends on how busy the studio is.  During the summertime you may have to book 2 to three weeks in advance.  In the wintertime you may get an appointment within a week of calling.

How much does it cost? Our packages are quite affordable, beginning at $185 and going up from there. For more details check out our Senior Pricelist:   www.nvphotography.net/senior_packages.html  Any questions just give us a call (330)729-9007 or send an email info@nvphotography.net .
A $50.00 deposit is required the day of your session, applied directly to your package.

How do I choose photos? After the Senior Portrait Session, we schedule a date for you to return to the studio with a parent for a Picture Review Session on the big screen, and to place your picture order. There are no proofs to lose or send back. The Picture Review Session takes about an hour and is included in your sitting fee.

Things to keep in mind:

Hair -Just prior to your session is probably not the time to experiment with a new hair do. If you do have a fresh haircut or a new style, allow at least a week for it to grow on you. Don’t forget to bring your hair supplies, comb, brush, and a light hair spray.

Fingernails- They will show! If the polish is chipped it will show in your pictures.

Glasses- They usually glare! Your best bet is to remove the lens or borrow a pair of frames (ask your optometrist).

Hangers- We often see clothes carried in a plastic bag. Be certain to watch for folds and wrinkles as your clothes will photograph that way.

Clothing- Vary the dress level. A suggestion is something formal, sharp casual, and casual. Maybe a hoodie or some funky modeling items, jewelry, hats, etc. defines you best so make sure to bring them along! Long sleeves or three quarter sleeves are better than short sleeves for portraits.

Undergarments- Many don’t consider this until it’s too late.  If any of your clothing changes involve light colored or thin material, be aware of what you are wearing underneath. Please wear an appropriate foundation; flesh tones are preferred.
