During all weddings I try to make sure I get pictures of the groom and bride with their families. This particular wedding was no different. The bride had a father and a step-father that she was close too and we captured portraits of her with both.

A year after her wedding her mom came in and wanted to see the portraits of her husband. We went through all of them and she ordered every one of them. Once she was done she began to cry and told me he just recently suffered a major heart attack. Sadly he passed away. He was healthy and this was a total surprise. The portraits I captured were the last portraits he was in and these portraits were the last memory they had of him.

I was happy I had the opportunity to meet this great man and was honored that I was able to capture this memory for his family. It also made me realize just how important the portraits I take are and they are not just pictures but a family’s memories. I told myself that day I will never forget that experience and make sure no matter what, to always give 110% effort because the portraits I capture are not just digital files or pictures or portraits but instead someone’s memories.

I would have to say that Santa really took care of my kids this year. My older two daughters got their very own laptops this year and my youngest daughter got the Xbox Kinect. The Kinect is probably one of the neatest video game items I’ve ever seen. We have had a Wii for over a year now and the Kinect is much better. It also showed me how out of shape I really am. lol
Hopefully everyone had a great Christmas and we wish everyone a Happy and Safe New Year.

Does anyone else have gifts they ordered still in transit somewhere? I ordered a gift for my wife back on November 18th and I still haven’t received it. I think I may have to tell her that she may be getting one of her gifts after Christmas. It’s ashame too because it is the one that I was really excited to give her. I think next year I will make sure I have everything ordered by August. lol If that is the worse that happens I think I’m in good shape this year.
I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday season.

I can’t believe it is almost Christmas. This year has flown by. I’m looking forward to using the HD Video feature on my new camera this year to capture all the excitement on the kids faces as they open the gifts Santa brought them. I have really begun to notice how much older they are getting and realize that moments like this are very limited. It seems like just yesterday I brought them home from the hospital.

Engagement portraits are a nice addition to any wedding package. They allow the photographer and couple the opportunity to get t know each other before the wedding day. The portraits can be used in Guest Books, table decorations, and even Thank You’s and Save The Date Cards. We take our engagement sessions a step farther than the customary “Look Here And Smile” type of portraits.
